2023-06-30 Storm Update 3:30 PM

The Village of Chatham with all of our responding partner agencies continue to work diligently to clean up damage from yesterday’s storms and restore power throughout town. Power continues to be restored in areas throughout the Village as additional linemen, equipment, and supplies arrive from assisting agencies. Our resources are focused on restoration of main transmission lines to restore service to the greatest number of residents as quickly as possible. A substantial amount of damaged poles remain that need to be removed and replaced before new transmission line can be run. Our crews continue to work diligently to clear access to those locations and replace poles as fast as supplies arrive to town. Our Electric Department’s assessment is that 85% of the Village should have service restored by late Thursday in to Friday. At that point in time, they will then be working on the individual customer and localized lateral line issues.

The National Weather Service forecasts the potential for additional severe weather in the area Saturday afternoon and evening. The approximate time frame for the most severe weather is currently between 5 pm and 7 pm Saturday.

With the amount of debris on the roadway we are asking our residents for assistance in helping make sure that storm drains along the roadways in front of your homes and businesses are clear to accommodate drainage during the predicted rain. Our community remains resilient in the response to this disaster and we greatly appreciate your assistance to the Village and your neighbors.
